“Language is the expression of ideas; and if the people of one country cannot preserve an identity of ideas, they cannot retain an identity of language.” (Noah Webster)
All things being equal, evolution is a gradual metamorphous of something from one stage to another. A verifiable transition. Although historically, it’s also been a misappropriated idea to present an agenda. In school, I was taught man evolved from monkeys. Although at home, Mom taught we are all created by God in his image. A conundrum of human beginnings between two disparate platforms of belief. And even though either philosophy appears relevant depending on perspective, if one takes a single aspect of the two ideologies into consideration, a perplexing component develops: language evolution. Especially if one believes the monkey to man process. From grunting to a vocabulary of words, thus a spoken language, let alone all the other processes that have evolved.
Except, if one listens to verbiage today, while reading the writings of yesterday, it might not be as disparate or difficult an idea to believe, as a regressive evolution presents, almost biblical in premonition. And following Party lines, two wholly different patterns of language now stem from the same speech vocabulary developed. Including the redefining of beliefs, I believed, or thought, sacrosanct. Consider, when the nation’s founders felt the weight of oppression beyond their capacity to contain:
Prudence, indeed, will dictate that Governments long established should not be changed for light and transient causes; and accordingly all experience hath shown, that mankind are more disposed to suffer, while evils are sufferable, than to right themselves by abolishing the forms to which they are accustomed. (Declaration of Independence)
That if one thinks historically, suppression of man through force by those stronger was the basis of government right up to the American Revolution. That war, a world altering event, as the nation’s founders knew opposing force all too well, including the average person’s willingness to remain under authoritative rule. An easier to accede to than fight for change to. A system perfected by England until it wasn’t.
Then moving forward to today, America is working to replace itself. Imagine, the antithesis of everything it once stood for while the evolution of man is being confusingly reinvented on multiple fronts. And all via government: WE THE PEOPLE, obedient willing pawns in the game of overthrow. Which should be a perplexing dilemma if one understands the nation’s framing principles. Or maybe not. In truth, the two might be inclusive of the other to achieve the wholesale change of both, creating an endgame of one: autarchy (absolute power). So, to obtain the overall, those in power must invert the logic of what was once believed to the logic of what can be conceived. The moral compass of monkey to man, or the belief in God, and we are of his image.
But how can a republic “long established” remain standing when the foundation it was built on becomes discombobulated, the language it lived by evolving to the language it will die by? A question answerable with truth twisted, right inverted, and a desire for absolute power presented as a humbleness to protect those who cannot protect themselves. An obfuscation of long-established principles. Think to when the Articles of Confederation were failing, the nation’s Framers knew the desire of individuals: Among the most formidable of the obstacles which the new Constitution will have to encounter will readily be distinguished the obvious interest of a certain class of men … and the perverted ambition of another class of men, who will either hope to aggrandize themselves by the confusions of their country, or will flatter themselves with the fairer prospects of elevation … (Federalist 1)
Imagine, if truth is in the eye of the beholder, everyone has their own truth. Although, the problem with truth is when it’s used to convey a misperception of one’s falsity to present as fact. A manipulation of events, or incidents, to create an outcome leveraged to either one’s advantage or disadvantage. Never an in-between; only winners and losers. Today though, history is being rescripted, now written to present only oppressors and oppressed. The old expression: To the victor goes the spoils – flipped into history was only achieved by the strong crushing the weak, begging: How then did the nation become? And, where there is some truth in everyone’s falsity, real truth can only present when the intent to achieve an ulterior motive is eclipsed by one’s desire to present full truth in the light of half-truth:
… that the Seeds of Aristocracy began to spring even before the Conclusion of our Struggle for the natural Rights of Men. Seeds which like a Canker Worm lie at the Root of free Governments. So great is the Wickedness of some Men, & the stupid Servility of others, that one would be almost inclined to conclude that Communities cannot be free. The few haughty Families, think THEY must govern. The Body of the People tamely consent & submit to be their Slaves. This unravels the Mystery of Millions being enslaved by the few! But I must desist. (Samuel Adams)
Servility: (noun) Slavery, the condition of a slave or bondman. (Webster’s 1828 Dictionary)
What you are saying is that we are done before we can start. Our true nature does us in. No way out. With only 2 parties to choose from and our bad natural nature. We have no choice but to follow into oblivion. There must be better ways than chasing our tails. Sorry for all this negative talk from the neighborhood idiot. Should never open mouth.
