some constitutional fruit for thought
Coming of age in the mid-to-late-sixties through the mid-seventies, having been the dependent of a fighter pilot, one could say I was the byproduct of the military industrial complex. While in those formative years, Vietnam, LBJs war of prosperity created a disdain for the military. Including the war of inverse protestation against war which begat peace, love, sex, drugs, and rock n roll, all was part of my upbringing. What some might call a confused individual in a confusing timeframe of America. My world, having been a concrete foundation of right and wrong, without abstract of the world outside the confines of military installations thereof. Plus, if one adds in Mom, religion, and the “Jesus is going to get you” mantra, concrete cannot begin to parlay the absence of abstract in my life growing up. So, when I say things like “It’s black and white,” believe me, for years, after I left home, I struggled to find gray. You know, the “As long as I’m the only one affected” syndrome. Only, in life, I screwed up enough, that even though “The devil always made me do it,” what was always presented as Satan in red, became gray. That’s right, my mistakes weren’t mine.
And even though I couldn’t comprehend both two-times-two and two-plus-two equals four, while other equations answered differently; three-plus-three equals six but three-times-three equals nine, which created an obstinance in me to mental focus-ability. Example: King David from the Bible; … but now your kingship (Saul) shall not endure. The Lord has sought a man after his own heart to appoint as ruler over his people because you did not observe what the Lord commanded you (1 Samuel 13:14). Except, didn’t David, after being anointed and becoming king, having watched Bathsheba (next door neighbor) bathing, committed adultery with her? Then, when she blew the pregnancy whistle, David’s plan to get her and her husband together hoping to cover up the pregnancy didn’t work, he had Uriah (husband) killed and married her to cover up said pregnancy. Only, it also didn’t work. Because, outside of Uriah’s death, who else paid for the adulterous act committed: The child conceived. And yes: No one’s perfect. But, what’s the commandment?
Which brings up the politics of America, the battles of Democrat, Republican and does anyone actually believe either party cares about a positive national outcome. Mind you, the country is thirty-six trillion in debt and growing uncontrollably to an amount that will crush the country. That’s twelve zeros worth of debt! Then, with interest accruing at three billion per day (that’s only nine zeros), “Orange Crush” definitely takes on a whole new meaning. Especially when Party blames the orange one for the entirety of the mess, even though he’s been in office less than every other legislator who partook in the creation of said debt. Now, throw in immorality, the anathema of soul deprived character and integrity, including any limits that may have been morally acceptable becoming repugnant. Example: The excoriation of DOGE (department of government efficiency) and its desire to bring forth the unmitigated waste of taxpayer dollars and Party stance which dictates the good or bad of its execution. Thus, mixing things together, and thinking biblically, morality in truth becomes the opposite thereof, because while David the king did the unthinkable in committing adultery, today the unthinkable has become acceptable. But … What’s that commandment?
And what then is acceptable? Because, if Satan is red, what’s with Santa, the other one in red bearing gifts? Do the two become a conundrum of color? Or, like Party politics, including the veil of promises to lower taxes while increasing spending in spite of DOGE, Democrat and Republican tango in constitutional adultery in their actions thereof. And like Uriah or David’s child, who will pay the ultimate price of the government’s sacrilege: WE THE PEOPLE? And even though I may have been confused when I first left home, as the black and white of youth obfuscated into the gray of adulthood, after many years of confusion finally focused, the black and white of concrete Party adultery begat a one-word descriptive: Toga! Except, when will someone actually stand up and speak truthfully. Because Trump and his desire to have anyone making less than $150,000.00 yearly not pay any income tax, is only undone by the unending spending of money the country doesn’t have. So much, even Santa can’t keep up, but I know of one who has an apple for free. Except that fruit is not abstract but forbidden. Oh well, let’s party anyway! Because if no one has to put skin in the game, then I want to play as rules don’t apply.
