to pick or not to pick: don't be fooled
An upfront disclaimer: This piece is longer than normal, and yes, I could have continued and delved deeper, but I’m always trying to find brevity in my verbosity. I failed here.
I joined the Facebook some time back for an oxymoronic reason. Dad being a USAF fighter-pilot for thirty years, the family was always PCSd (permanent change of station) roughly every three years. Well, one day in a general conversation, someone mentioned to me there were “Brat” groups, and one could easily join. Well, being an introvert, my entire life growing up was spent in the shadows, not really knowing many peers even though I’d lived amongst hundreds. So, understanding the story behind the reference, I signed up. And, not one group, but many. My thought was hopefully being able to locate someone I knew while living in Spain. I wanted to reconnect again those many years later to see how he was doing. In youth, we made an odd pairing. He was a brainiac, and I was the school dunce. But mainly, I owe him some serious apologies. Well, over the years I’ve been on the Facebook I have never located him, but “met” and got to know some very interesting people. I’ve developed a respect for some, not so much by meeting them in person, but through their posts. Which spawned me joining other groups, some political, which widened my view of perspectives floating around the internet.
And what I’ve discovered: most of us are just plain stupid when it comes to the Constitution. Oh yes, we throw political memes around like those who drop trash on the streets. But they have no depth, no substance, no character, or clarity. Like trash, it’s just another form of litter destroying the nation we supposedly love. Plus, as citizens, we’ve become keyboard warriors who stand with party while each party tears the system down. It’s either Democrat or Republican, the other being the enemy, yet both parties stand on equal footing: destroy WE THE PEOPLE. And the meme flingers have been sucked right in. As well, those who pontificate remedies or issues of national ill wills, if they stand with a specific party platform, they’re lying to you.
Now, by definition, I am uneducated, having barely graduated high school. Except, I did attend one year of junior college and made the Dean’s list. Imagine my surprise when that letter showed up. So, following the dunce vein of thought, every ounce of my constitutional understanding has been through a self-taught perspective. I’ve read multiples of books both pro and against issues. Then I devoured the Federalist (papers) a multiple of times and studied the constitutional debates. I believe the papers to be an owner’s manual to the Constitution. And yes, they are difficult to read with paragraph long sentences, and words long enough to be a sentence. So, in defining those words, Barbara and R2 bought me a Webster’s 1828 dictionary. Well, the multiple rereads helped build a mental foundation in my mind of their intent for us, their posterity. Plus, what the Framers wrote is better understood using their definitions. What I found: None of this is rocket science!
So, back to the Facebook and those people I’ve come in contact with. Imagine my surprise (yet again) when I got into a typing debate with a PHD in Political Science. In the course of our back and forth, his words: The Federalist (papers) were a propaganda piece. In an instant, he made perfectly clear his position: Democrat. And yes, he confirmed my assessment of his party affiliation. Ask yourself: What if he is a professor impressioning young minds? And never misunderstand my position: both parties are in lockstep to destroy the Constitution, including WE THE PEOPLE. I stand with neither party, presenting what I believe is an unbiased perspective from my self-taught research and study.
Now, going back in time, throughout history, from the earliest recordings of man, the way one overtook another was by an invasion of force. Overwhelming odds of individuals could subdue those they attacked. Then, as governments came into being (by force) and then nations, the goal of one enlarging their landholdings was by the same design. Invade the neighboring nation through force and subdue those who were inhabiting. The greater the number of warriors, the better the chance of success. Preplanning, knowing the enemy’s strength, their weaknesses, were all part of the wargame. The Trojan horse comes to mind. Except, while thinking back historically, ask: Throughout history has the actions of our government today ever transpired before? Where the government itself is working to internally destroy the nation itself. And make no mistake, it is taking place. And if one believes otherwise, they’re plain stupid. Although, the problem in everything taking place is understanding the Constitution. Why the Framers laid the power structure they did and for what purpose. And until WE THE PEOPLE learn the basics; all of this will continue until there is nothing left. Truthfully though, it may all be too late anyway. Believe it, the government is Trojan horsing us and we’re allowing it.
Anyway, in the debates to adopt the Constitution, both sides (Federalist/Anti-Federalist) wanted to protect the people and the States against government overreach. That’s why we have a limited government. In other words: A limitation on the ability for the federal to write law controlling WE THE PEOPLE. Their main reason was to protect against tyranny of the federal head. It’s powers clearly defined in the Constitution: The Framers proclaiming the government cannot legislate what it cannot control (Federalist 45). But they went further in defining the structure between the Fed and the States: The powers delegated by the proposed Constitution to the federal government are few and defined. Those which remain in the State governments are numerous and indefinite. The former will be exercised principally on external objects, as war, peace, negotiation, and foreign commerce; with which last the power of taxation will, for the most part, be connected. The powers reserved to the several States will extend to all objects which, in the ordinary course of affairs, concern the lives, liberties, and properties of the people, and the internal order, improvement, and prosperity of the State (Federalist 45). The caveat to the structure: The number of individuals employed under the Constitution of the United States will be much smaller than the number employed under the particular States. There will consequently be less of personal influence on the side of the former than of the latter (Federalist 45). And who/what is the nation’s largest employer today?
Now, in a limited government, the Framers gave the government the power to legislate, along with the absence thereof, no ability to legislate. And one of those absent words in the Constitution: Immigration. There is not one word allowing the government to control the flow of those wanting in, which should make it a State’s Right. But the Constitution does require the Federal: The United States shall guarantee to every State in this Union a Republican Form of Government, and shall protect each of them against Invasion; and on Application of the Legislature, or of the Executive (when the Legislature cannot be convened) against domestic Violence (Article IV/Section 4). And what is taking place on our southern border by definition is an invasion. A conspicuous Trojan horse designed to upset the balance of everything this nation stands for.
Although the federal was given control of citizenship: To establish an uniform Rule of Naturalization (Article I/Section 8/4th Clause). The key word being uniform! But juxtapositioning, in the debates to adopt the Constitution, the Anti-Federalist wanted to make absolute the distinction between the powers of the Federal in relation to the States, or more importantly: WE THE PEOPLE. And that became the Bill of Rights! And one in particular: The powers not delegated to the United States by the Constitution, nor prohibited by it to the States, are reserved to the States respectively, or to the people (10th Amendment). Now, there is a Bible verse apropos to the events taking place in our country today: What is twisted cannot be straightened; what is lacking cannot be counted (Ecclesiastes 1:15). And if WE THE PEOPLE do not wake up and pull our collective heads out of the sand, things will not end well. And it does not matter about one’s party affiliation. They’re both wrong, inept, and politically corrupted for power.
Anyway, let’s not stop as I know, there’s also the 14th Amendment/Section 1 to contend with: All persons born or naturalized in the United States and subject to the jurisdiction thereof, are citizens of the United States and of the State wherein they reside. No State shall make or enforce any law which shall abridge the privileges or immunities of citizens of the United States; nor shall any State deprive any person of life, liberty, or property, without due process of law; nor deny to any person within its jurisdiction the equal protection of the laws.
Now, all things being equal, the Framers made mistakes. And one of the biggest in adopting the Constitution was slavery. They did not abolish it outright, because they knew the southern States would never agree to accept the document unless they compromised. The problem being the Articles of Confederation allowed slavery into perpetuity, so: The Migration or Importation of such Persons as any of the States now existing shall think proper to admit, shall not be prohibited by the Congress prior to the Year one thousand eight hundred and eight, but a Tax or duty may be imposed on such Importation, not exceeding ten dollars for each Person (Article I/Section 9/1st Clause), otherwise known as the slave clause.
So, to keep the thirteen States intact and not broken up into smaller confederacies, and to adopt the Constitution, both parties agreed. Yet, when 1808 came and went, Congress did not address the issue. Nope, not until the Civil War did the issue of slavery again rear its ugly head. The war ended it, but did not resolve it and the 14th amendment, a slave amendment, finally put things to bed (not really). But what everyone fails to interpret: AND SUBJECT TO THE JURISDICTION THEREOF. So, ask yourself, how is it those who now cross into the country and are not subject to the jurisdiction thereof, nor are they citizens, yet somehow qualify for protection under the Constitution, including the children of those citizens of another nation born here. And yes, this included DREAMERS. Shouldn’t they be subject to the jurisdiction of the nation they are citizens of, period. They are not, nor were they ever slaves in America, so the intent of the 14th should not apply. Yes, twisted and now not able to be straightened.
Well, to close, Dad retired in September 1975 after thirty years of flying. My parents settled near a military lifelong couple they’d remained friends with throughout Dad’s career. After arriving stateside and settling in, one day I was riding with him when he stopped by his friend’s house. Standing outside at the street looking into the engine compartment of one son’s car were five individuals. They’d been trying to get the car started for an hour or so. As we passed by, they stopped Dad and asked if he had any ideas. He asked them to turn the engine over. They did and he told them the timing chain had jumped. They’d been taking apart and putting back together things they knew nothing about. And Dad, he was right on the money. Likewise, shouldn’t WE THE PEOPLE have a better than average understanding of our nation’s framing documents to understand the deceptions taking place.
And make no mistake, on the illegal alien front, America is being invaded. And if one throws out the picking of vegetables or fruit, or the jobs no one else wants to do, it’s all a smokescreen and a blatant lie. This issue is bigger than any of the idiocy being spouted. Plus, our government was meant to be fed, not feed! Really think about those words. Yet, our government has become a feeding machine that cannot have its appetite quenched. What has become the antithesis of the Framers vision even though they gave the government the power to tax. And shouldn’t the States be deciding immigration? I know, it’s not that simple. But yes, if we followed the Constitution, it is that simple. Because it also goes back to being fed. Now, I try to keep my posts short, so I apologize, plus I also know: No one wants to read anymore. But to truly explain the entirety of this madness would require more words than I’ve conveyed here. Anyway, I came across a post on the Facebook. And one person’s comment was exactly what I argue against: We don’t need no stinking legislation. We need BIDEN to enforce the laws and the Constitution that we have ALREADY.
To which I suggest: First, learn the Constitution! You’ll be surprised to find the truth behind the lies. And those who truly believe in allowing the massive influx: If you even pay taxes, when filing, do you look for as many deductions possible or just pay the maximum amount possible? Yeah, I thought so!
